The self-service catering section gets organic

With €100M turnover, organic products only contributes to 2% of the sales on the self-service catering section. However, sales in value are up +41.1%, consequently manufacturers are developing an appetite for organic products. In addition to specialised brands – Jardin Bio, Cereal Bio, Bjorg – we see classic providers of the self-service catering section offering organic products such as Fleury Michon, Pierre Martinet or Mix Buffet. Developing its range has become a priority for all. Jardin Bio launched a range of gluten-free products for the catering section three years ago. Panzani France – after acquiring Celnat in 2015 and its two grocery brands – bought last year Vegetalia from Spain. Vegetalia produces ingredients (tofu, tempeh and seitan) and prepared recipes (veggie burgers, steaks and prepared meals) and plans to offer its ranges in France by the last quarter of 2018.
