Your specialist of natural, healthy and organic products in the FOOD and FEED sectors

Franprix Noé has opened this summer and offers more than 2,900 products, all tending to lead to a responsible consumption.
Organic products represent 65% of what you will find on the shelves, with this rate hitting 100% when it comes to the fruits and vegetables section. Another trend in the shop is the number of vegan products. Today, 50 vegan products are available, and the management hopes to increase this number shortly despite sourcing on this segment being complicated.
The cutting-up products’ area is enhanced and for the caterer’s corner Franprix Noé has partnered with the sophisticated Greek caterer Mavrommatis.
Franprix also takes this shop as an opportunity to put forward its own private labels which are on display on almost every shelf.
The visit to the shop ends on a very special touch: clients can pick up aromatic herbs from a local farm for free. There are also many services available in the shop and a quiet area to rest with large sofas. A second Franprix Noé store should open in another part of Paris.

On the 8th November, the first Auchanbio has opened its door in Lille’s area. All products – 4200 references - come from organic farming, of which 475 under organic retailer’s brand and 56 are under one euro. Clients will also find a kitchen with 2 chefs who will prepare 16 dishes on a daily basis (from starters to desserts) with ingredients from the shop. The market for organic products is flourishing. “According to the figures released by the Agence Bio at the end of July, the sales value represent €7billions” says Auchan Retail France. With a double digit market growth, Auchan aims to develop its offer of organic products. In the largest hypermarkets of the group, there are already up to 3000 products on offer. It was time for Auchan to enter this competitive market as Casino (with Naturalia) and Carrefour (which is boosting the opening of it is Carrefour Bio) are already present. Out of 1100 shops specialised in organic products listed in France, more than 150 have been established since the beginning of 2017.

THE FRENCH HAVE AN APPETITE FOR A HEALTHIER DIET   With a global trend for a healthier diet, the French society and consumption Observatory (Obsoco) has released a study on eating habits in France. 82% of them feel that they pay more attention to what they eat compared to three years ago. “Quality is more and more appreciated by the consumers. They want their food non harmful and that provide healthy benefits” says Philippe Moati co-president of the Obsoco. A trend confirmed by an exclusive survey carried out by Toluna for LSA. “A large majority of the French are looking to consume healthy food, seasonal fruits and vegs, products with less fat, less sugar and less salt” says Philippe Guilbert General Director at Toluna. With consumers more and more aware of the issue of food safety, they are more “sensitive with regard to industrial products and cautious about pesticide contamination. Hence the increasing success of organic products, local products and vegan diet” says Philippe Guilbert. Distributors and industrials have a role to play to satisfy this new appetite.

WELSH TRADE DEVELOPMENT VISIT IN PARIS   From 6 to 9 November, Sutralis has led a Trade Development Visit in Paris for a group of 10 Welsh food & drink producers, on behalf of their partners, BIC Innovation and the Welsh Government.

For this mission, Sutralis organized one-to-one meetings with French buyers and distributors, but also a store tour in Paris, and provided tailored made advice to each producer.

For Welsh producers, it was a unique opportunity to showcase their products to carefully selected buyers and distributors and clearly assess the commercial potential for their products.

This mission has already opened the doors for business as some of the companies have received confirmed interest and are on advanced negotiations to test products in store in the coming month.

“Just a brief note to pass on my thanks and appreciation for a great job this week. The quality of the companies and people we met with was first rate. It was a very good week and really appreciated the hard work and energy by the Sutralis team”.
Anthony Mills, BIC Innovation, mission leader
